Which 2D Character Would Your Valentine's Chocolate Go to?

Valentine’s Day is coming, so in preparation, anime, manga and idol merchandise “flea market” app Otamart asked thousands of its users a question of huge importance - which 2D character would you give Valentine’s chocolates to? And just as important, which character would you want to receive chocolates from?

In the category of giving chocolate, the gold went to Yuri!!! on Ice’s Victor Nikiforov, who stole the hearts of countless fans in his sweet scenes with pupil Katsuki Yuri (who ranked in at a respectable 9th place). Behind Victor were Osomatsu-san's Karamatsu and Uta no Prince-sama's Kurusu Shou.


As for the category of top character for receiving chocolate, Touken Ranbu’s Shokudaikiri Mitsutada managed to win first place! A possible reason for this sword-turned-ikemen’s chocolate-giving appeal could be his hobby of cooking, picked up from his former master. Meanwhile, Yazawa Nico of Love Live! managed to nico nico nii her way to second place above Victor Nikiforov, who captured third-place honors to add to his previous first-place position!

In an interesting turn from the standard survey questions, Otamart also requested participants to answer who they thought would match 5 types of chocolates, to be assembled as a special Valentine’s unit. The members voted into this dream collaboration were Ittoki Otoya from Uta no Prince-sama (milk chocolate), Sakuma Rei from Ensemble Stars! (dark chocolate), Tsurumaru Kuninaga and Uguisumaru from Touken Ranbu (white and matcha chocolate respectively), and Todomatsu from Osomatsu-san (strawberry chocolate). What do you think these five good-looking guys would be doing as a unit?

Another area of interest in this survey was the 3D side. With so many beloved boyf- er, characters living on the other side of the screen, it’s easy to forget their real-life counterparts. Even so, if voice actor Miyano Mamoru’s consistently massive popularity is anything to go by, they’re not too bad a bunch! With a neverending list of iconic character roles to his name, including Suoh Tamaki ( Ouran High School Host Club ), Yagami Light ( Death Note ), and Matsuoka Rin ( Free! ), Miyano is constantly in demand not only from anime and games producers, but also his legions of fans. So naturally, he found himself right at the top of the 3D category for giving and getting chocolate!


While the rankings were predictably dominated by voice actors and actresses, some popular actors based in the 3D world like Suda Masaki, who scored the role of Shinpachi in the Gintama live-action film, were also able to make the list.
