It was announced at Jump Festa 2017’s Naruto×Boruto stage event that Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is being adapted into an anime.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is a story following the new generation after Naruto. The script is written by Kodachi Ukyo and Ikemoto Mikio is doing illustrations while Kishimoto Masashi, the creator of the original series, is supervising. It’s serialized once a month in Weekly Shonen Jump as of May 2016, and its second volume went on sale Feb. 12, 2016. More than 1 million volumes have been printed.
The anime is planned to air on TV Tokyo beginning in Apr. 2017. Kishimoto commented, “It’s thanks to everyone’s support that we’ve been able to continue to this point. I want Boruto to be even more fun than Naruto. There will be a manga, anime, game, and other things, so please look forward to it!”
A teaser visual was also shown, featuring protagonists Uzumaki Boruto, Uchiha Sarada, and Mitsuki. The official site is also up, with comments from the voice actors, including Sanpei Yuki (Boruto), Kikuchi Kokoro (Sarada), Kijima Ryuichi (Mitsuki), and Takeuchi Junko (Naruto).
Additionally, it was revealed that Boruto: Naruto the Movie, which was first released in 2015, will be aired on Jan. 1 2017.
The 2nd show for the internationally acclaimed play Live Spectacle Naruto was also announced. It’s titled Akatsuki no Shirabe and performances are expected to begin in May 2017.
It looks like there will be many developments to look forward to in the Naruto universe along with Boruto!
