The Gunpla Expo is a massive event dedicated to the display and sale of Bandai Co., Ltd.’s plastic model kids from their Hobby Division based on the Gundam series, and Gunpla Expo World Tour Japan 2016 Winter is being held until Nov. 23 at Akihabara UDX.
This year’s event features the TV anime Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, and the Gunpla Gundam Barbatos Lupus is featured in 1/1 scale on an LED monitor. There is also a scene at the grounds featuring the Sword-Mace, also recreated in 1/1 scale, allowing you to experience the world of Iron-Blooded Orphans.
Other events including Gunpla Supporters 2016, through which you can see Gunpla with original coloring produced by well-known masters, as well as an awards ceremony for the Bandai official Gunpla contest Gunpla Builders World Cup 2016 Japan Tournament, allowing you to enjoy Gunpla in a variety of ways for five days.
The event theme of Gunpla Expo World Tour Japan 2016 Winter is “find a Gunpla that’s uniquely yours!”. It’s centered around Gunpla models based on the second season of the latest TV anime Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans which began airing in October. (Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m., broadcast nationwide on 28 MBS/TBS channels). Displays also feature Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin and Gundam Build Fighters, and a number of figure series including HG (High Grade), RG (Real Grade), MG (Master Grade), BB Senshi, and Figure Rise Bust. The wide range of Gunpla types are being displayed to help visitors with the theme of finding their very own Gunpla.

■ Main Event Details
Gundam Barbatos Lupus, a mobile suit appearing in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, is on sale as a 1/100 scale Gunpla 1 beginning on the first day of this event (Nov. 19), and to commemorate that, it will appear in 1/1 scale on an LED monitor set up at the venue. The Sword-Mace it’s equipped with also appears in a piercing scene in 1/1 size, allowing you to really take in the Iron-Blooded Orphans world. A “1/100 Full Mechanics Gundam Barbatos Lupus Sword-Mace Gunmetal Ver.” (targeted towards people ages 8 and older) will be given to visitors as a limited edition present for coming 2 on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
■ Exhibition
In addition to a plastic model lineup exhibit based on the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, there are a number of new products being announced at the event. Other new Gunpla will include ones based on Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin IV Eve of Destiny (event screenings at 15 theaters nationwide on Nov. 19 (Sat.)) and the Gundam Build Fighters series which aired from October 2013 to March 2014. Figures are displayed from a variety of Gunpla categories including HG, RG, MG, BB Senshi, and Figure Rise Bust. Visitors can also look forward to never-before-seen Gunpla and a diverse lineup of items that are only sold at Gunpla events.

■ Gunpla Builders World Cup 2016 Japan Tournament Final Results Award Ceremony Event Details
Results of the official Bandai Gunpla contest Gunpla Builders World Cup 2016 Japan Tournament will be announced on the final day of the event, Nov. 23 (Wed., holiday). The Japanese champion of the Gunpla Builders World Cup 2016 World Tournament will be decided on Dec. 18 at Gundam Front Tokyo (Odaiba).
