The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex, nicknamed the “Golden Pheonix,” is to join the highest rank of Gunpla model kits, Perfect Grade! The PG 1/60 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex is available for pre-order on Premium Bandai now and retails for 43,200 yen (including tax, excluding shipping and handling).
Mobile Suit Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex appears in the Mobile Suit Gundam UC: One of Seventy Two movie which is shown at the Mobile Suit Gundam museum Gundam Front Tokyo, and now the “Golden Phoenix” is set to shine in the Perfect Grade series of plastic model kits.
The psychoframe is fully recreated with shiny golden armour and parts that impressively catch blue light. When displayed with the LED unit (sold separately), the model has a slightly different, mysterious feeling compared to the others in the series
Phenex's Armoured Amour D “wings” can be deployed in two standard arrangements. So that you can fully recreate the NT-D firing position, the frame has been redesigned with a new flexible, contracting/expanding gimmick, and the backpack can also be equipped on the arms so you can recreate the appearance of the mega cannon firing.
The iconic Phenex golden phoenix blade antenna head sculpt has also been faithfully brought to life, and in contrast with Unicorn Gundam 2 Banshee, the model has a shiny metallic finish. The kit also includes decals so you can add the markings from Hajime Katoki’s original design.
As well as the Phenex’s Beam Magnum and Hyper Bazooka, the kit also includes the standard Beam Saber and the Beam Tonfa for the forearms. The model also comes with a custom display base which can be used to control and store batteries for the also available LED stand.
The packaging is equally impressive with the gold of the armour and the blue of the psychoframe.
The PG 1/60 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03 Phenex is expected to be displayed at the Gunpla Expo World Tour Japan 2016 Winter which takes place in Akihabara UDX Akiba Square from Nov. 19 to Nov. 23.
