You’ll have to wait until Oct. 8 for the first TV broadcasts of the March Comes in Like a Lion anime, but the DVD and Blu-ray release for the upcoming series has already been confirmed! The series will be released across four volumes beginning with Vol. 1 on Jan. 25, 2017, followed by Vol. 2 on April 26, Vol. 3 on June 28, and the fourth and final volume on Aug. 23. Each of the special edition sets will feature brand new cover art by character designer Nobuhiro Sugiyama, and there will also be a series of store-exclusive purchase bonuses on offer too.

About March Comes in Like a Lion
*March Comes in Like a Lion* is a popular manga created by Chica Umino of Honey & Clover fame which is currently running in Young Animal and is set in the world of shogi. The series has so far been collected into 11 volumes and won the fourth Manga Taisho Award in 2011 as well as the 35th Kodansha Manga Award in the general category in the same year. In 2014, the series went on to win the 18th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize as well as being named the Da Vinci Book of the Year 2015 in the manga section a year later. The TV anime adaptation is set to air on NHK from October 2016 with the second part of the live-action movie arriving in the spring of 2017.
Story
Seventeen-year-old professional shogi player Rei Kiriyama lost his family in an accident when he was a child and has been burdened with an intense feeling of loneliness ever since. Whilst living alone in Shitamachi, Rei meets sisters Akari, Hinata, and Momo and little by little his life begins to change…
This is a gentle story of various people getting something back, but also one filled with battles.
