Blue Exorcist is a popular manga by Kazue Kato boasting 15 million volumes sold in total. The manga has spawned an anime series and an anime film, and now, a new series was greenlit!
The information was announced on July 3 at the Blue Exorcist Fifth Year Anniversary Panel at Anime Expo 2016 held in Los Angeles, receiving a huge ovation from the roughly 2,000 fans present.
In addition, a teaser visual by character designer and chief animation director Keigo Sasaki, a news flash promotional video with new footage, and a special message video from Nobuhiko Okamoto and Jun Fukuyama, who will be continuing their roles as Rin and Yukio Okamoto in the new series, were revealed in tandem with the announcement!
Blue Exorcist opens its curtains again, this time taking Kyoto as its stage!

**Story**
Although there should be no interactions between Assiah and Gehenna, the human world and the demon world, demons are able to interfere in the human world with the use of certain objects. It is up to the Exorcists to cleanse the world of such evil.
One of the protagonists is Rin Okumura, who is studying at the Exorcist Cram School located on the campus of True Cross Academy, hiding his true identity as Satan’s son. However, his secret is revealed during the attack of Amaimon, the King of Earth, when he releases his blue flames, the symbol of Satan’s power, which ends up putting distance between Rin and his friends. But then, the Left Eye of the Impure King which was sealed in the depths of the Academy gets stolen, pulling Rin and his friends right into the middle of things...
