2017 is a huge year for anime, as it marks the 100-year anniversary of the birth of animation. To celebrate, the Los Angeles Anime Film Festival went all out, so of course we joined in the fun too as its official media sponsor!

The festival, which was held from September 15-17th, showed over 20 anime films from periods throughout anime’s long history. Classics such as Akira and My Neighbour Totoro were shown along with newer titles, such as Love Live! The School Idol Movie and King of Prism.

For the biggest screening event, the English dub premiere of No Game No Life: Zero, the theatres were packed, all tickets having sold out! Fans were also excited to see the anime’s English voice actors and the Japanese Producer, Tanaka Sho, participating as the main guests.

Speaking of guests, let’s see some of the stars spotted at the Red Carpet!

Festival Director and President of Rydgen Inc., Takeda Kumo.

David Vincent, voice actor known for his roles as Grimmjow in Bleach and Assassin in Fate/stay night.

Scott Gibbs, voice of Riku in No Game No Life: Zero.

Caitlynn French, voice of Shuvi in No Game No Life: Zero.

Tanaka Sho, Producer for No Game No Life: Zero.

Kyle Jones, ADR Director for No Game No Life: Zero.

Before the No Game No Life: Zero premiere, fans patiently waited in line with their goody-bags!

The premiere kicked off with a Q&A session held by the English voice actors and Japanese production staff.

Unfortunately, once the movie started everyone had to put away their cameras... But there was plenty of time later to snap some impressive cosplay!

The Los Angeles Anime Film Festival was hosted by international creative company Rydgen Inc. and film distribution company Azoland Pictures. Rydgen Inc. President Takeda Kumo, who also served as Festival Director, has announced that LA-AFF 2018 will again be held at the Regal L.A. Live: A Barco Innovation Center!
