New information has been revealed for the anime project Hai-Furi which began last summer. The TV anime will begin broadcasting this spring. In addition to this, the newest key visual was released along with the anime’s staff. The anime is also heating up in other ways including a character song CD that has been confirmed for an April 6 release date.
Hai-Furi takes place in Japan when much of the country has been submerged by plate subductions. Akeno Misaki and Moeka China both live in a coastal town and, dreaming of becoming a “Blue Mermaid” who protects the town from harm, they enroll in Yokosuka’s Marine High School. The series depicts the day-to-day school lives of these two friends who are shooting for the same dream.
The main visual shows Akeno and Moeka in their school uniforms walking underneath sakura trees in bloom. The illustration vividly shows in the background Yokosuka Mt. Kinugasa Park, recognised as one of the top 100 places to see sakura trees in Japan. And you can even glimpse the series’ unique world through the sinking continent it depicts.
Directing the anime is Yuu Nobuta, the character designer and chief animation director is Naoto Nakamura, the color designer is Hitomi Ikeda, and the studio behind the anime is Production IMS. The series composer and scriptwriter is Reiko Yoshida who has worked on many adolescent school stories including K-On! and Hanayamata. Original character designs are being handled by Atto.
The character song “Watashitachi Kinenbi” will be released on April 6. Akeno and Moeka will be handling the vocals. A mini-drama will also be included on the CD. With the main cast not yet revealed, we can look forward to finding this out. The CD’s jacket illustration was drawn just for the occasion by Naoto Nakamura. The limited first edition will also include 1 random super-deformed character sticker out of a total of 30 by Masaya Takamura. The CD is expected to retail for 1,000 yen (plus tax).
