“Digimon Adventure tri” Breaks Through 180 Million Yen in Box Office Revenue; Chapter 2 Visual Posted

The film Digimon Adventure tri Chapter 1: Saikai (Reunion) which released in Japan on Nov. 21 is bringing in favorable box office numbers. As of Dec. 6, the film has surpassed 180 million yen in revenue. Screenings are currently packing theaters throughout the country. Poster visuals for the second movie, Ketsui (Determination), have also been posted, fanning anticipation for the upcoming movie set to be released on March 12, 2016.

Though it has a comparatively small scale screening at 10 theaters throughout the country, Digimon Adventure tri Chapter 1: Saikai (Reunion) still managed to record 110,000 in total moviegoers as of Dec. 6 for more than 180 million yen in box office revenue. Even though it’s been 15 years since the series first began, it seems its popularity hasn’t weakened one bit. Because it’s been such a big hit, the movie’s screening period was extended from an initial three weeks to four weeks, which shows momentum for the series’ six consecutive films to be released. Saikai will be in theaters until Dec. 18, and a Blu-ray and DVD of the film will also be released the same day.

The poster visuals to Chapter 2: Ketsui show the Mega Digivolution of Mimi Tachikawa’s partner Digimon Palmon, Rosemon, and the Mega Digivolution of Joe Kido’s partner Digimon Gomamon, Vikemon. Another focal point not to be missed is the confrontation of two mystery Digimon. The poster designs follow suit from the visuals of Chapter 1: Saikai for a stylish result that will have fans anxiously awaiting the film’s release next spring.

Chapter 2: Ketsui will begin screening on March 12. An exclusive Blu-ray of the film will also be sold at theaters, giving fans a chance to get a copy in advance. General sales of the Blu-ray and DVD of the film will begin on April 2.

Digimon Adventure tri is a continuation of the first generation Digimon Adventure series that started in 1999. The film depicts the main characters beginning with Taichi Yagami all grown up.
