Voting has begun in Japan for the SUGOI JAPAN Award 2016, an award that chooses works from Japan’s pop culture to introduce to the world. Organized by newspaper The Yomiuri Shinbun, the voting lineup includes 92 works total from manga, anime, light novels, and entertainment novels. Voting is being done through the official site, and results will be announced at the award ceremony in March 2016 and published in the Yomiuri Shimbun. Winning works will be made available to overseas readers, so everyone reading should definitely look forward to finding out the winners.
Furthermore, Italian cosplay Yuriko Tiger has been inaugurated as the award’s official ambassador and idol unit AOP (Anime Ouen Project) as the official supporters. Last year was the first time the SUGOI JAPAN Award was held and total votes climbed to 77,631, with Madoka Magica shining as the Grand Prix winner of the anime category. Born in Italy. Grew up watching Japanese anime and reading manga from the age of 5. Attracted to Japan’s pop culture, she visited Japan in 2013. She is currently active in a wide range of genres including cosplaying and modeling.
