“Love Live!” x Nebuta at Kyomaf?

The Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair (Kyomaf) will be held on Sept. 19 and 20 (Saturday and Sunday) at Miyako Messe in Kyoto. Western Japan’s biggest manga- and anime-related event, the event began in 2012 and will have its fourth holding this year. With the event date approaching, information is being successively released.

First is the inclusion of an open stage that all event attendees can view, and performances have been lined up as well covering a variety that includes Hacka Doll the Animation, a TMS Entertainment talk, and Garo -Guren no Tsuki-. More details can be found on the official site.

Also there are plans to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Rinpa school of Japanese painting which included prominent painter Ogata Korin at this year’s Kyomaf too. There will be displays of collaboration artwork with anime and manga, and also original products for sale. A ton of popular series are included in the collaboration, for which it has gained attention, including Madoka Magica, Attack on Titan, Lucky Star, and Hatsune Miku Others to now join this list include Jitsu wa Watashi wa, Charlotte, Sushipolis, Aoharu x Machinegun, Astro Boy, and Drifters. This collaboration with the Rinpa painting style can be said to be a unique experiment that connects character culture with the traditional culture of Japan. Even if you’re not a fan of these series, you’re going to want to see the artwork.

Collaboration floats with Love Live! were a smash hit at this year’s Nebuta Festival, and the floats for the first-, second-, and third-year girls will take to the streets of Kansai for the first time during the same time as Kyomaf too, and details on this have been revealed.

The second-year team float consisting of main characters Honoka Kosaka, Umi Sonoda, and Kotori Minami will come to the Kyoto International Manga Museum, and the first-year and third-year floats will both be on display during Kyomaf at Miyako Messe. Since there will be products on sale too, Love Live! fans in Kansai will certainly want to come running.
