“Tamayura: Graduation Photos” Part 3 Main Visual Brings with it a Feeling of Autumn

On Aug. 29, screenings began in Japan for “Hibiki” (Echo), the second movie in the Tamayura: Sotsugyo Shashin (Tamayura: Graduation Photos) 4-part series. Stage appearances were made in Hiroshima, the setting of the movie, and there is a lot of excitement surrounding it. Though “Echo” just released, the main visual to the third movie in the tetralogy, “Akogare” (Yearning), has already been posted. It shows the four main characters and overflows with emotions that convey a feeling of autumn.

The main visual to Tamayura: Graduation Photos Part 3: Yearning shows Fu Sawatari, Kaoru Hanawa, Norie Okazaki, and Maon Sakurada. The third movie will depict the day of the “Shoukei no Michi” (Road of Yearning), a festival that takes place in Takehara City in Hiroshima Prefecture, and the girls being illuminated by bamboo lanterns as they stand on the stairs of Shoren-ji Temple looks impressive.

Posters and leaflets featuring this artwork will be distributed in theaters throughout Japan beginning on Sept. 5. The leaflet also features an interview with character designer and chief animation director Haruko Iizuka. It seems this will be an indispensible item for enjoying the movie more deeply. Yearning will be released on Nov. 28, and part 4 on Feb. 20, 2016.

Tamayura is an original work set in Takehara that depicts the everyday lives of young girls, whom many fans have watched grow and mature. An OVA was released in 2010. The first season of the TV anime, Tamayura: Hitotose, broadcast in 2011, and the second season, Tamayura: More Aggressive, in 2013. It has captivated many fans as a relaxing slice-of-life anime.

Another point not to overlook is that many events for the series are held in its setting, Hiroshima Prefecture. Many projects have been undertaken to date which fans have gathered for, including the yearly event “Momoneko-sama Matsuri” which was first held in 2012 and the wedding of popular voice actress Yuko Gibu.
