Stage Performances at Kyomaf 2015 to Include i☆Ris; “Love Live!” Floats to Be Unveiled for First Time in Kansai

Western Japan’s largest manga and anime trade show, the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2015, also called Kyomaf for short, will be held in Kyoto for two days, Sept. 19 and 20. The yearly event has been held since 2012. Now, the first part of the event’s open stage program has been announced. Other news revealed at this time includes an exhibit being planned collaboratively between manga, anime, and traditional businesses, as well as Love Live! floats.

On the open stage, special live performances by wonderful guests are planned. On Saturday, Sept. 19, a stage show will be performed in celebration of the TV anime Hacka Doll: The Animation. Members of the main cast will be on stage including Miyu Takagi, Kaya Okuno, and Nanami Yamashita, who will convey the charms of the anime ahead of its broadcast. The same day, voice actress idol unit i☆Ris will hold a live stage event as well. This will be a must-see performance from this unit who, having been together for three years, are gaining even more momentum.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, a live performance by All-Japan Anisong Grand Prix winner Tatsuyuki Kobayashi and Konomi Suzuki will be held. They will passionately sing such songs as the opening theme to the TV anime Fairy Tail, “Never-End Tale.”

Also at Kyomaf 2015 will be an exhibit that is being planned collaboratively with the traditional businesses Kyoto is proud of. Titled “Rimp-Animation Rinpa 400th Anniversary x Newtype 30th Anniversary Rinpa Homage Exhibition,” collaborative works between Rinpa (an historical school of Japanese painting), manga, and anime will be on display. The exhibit is being held in celebration of this year being the 400th anniversary of the opening of an art village in Takagamine, Kyoto by one of the fathers of Rinpa, Honami Koetsu. The collaboration works span a wide range including recent popular series like Madoka Magica, Lucky Star, and Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, and former masterpieces like Fang of the Sun Dougram and Kimba the White Lion. The exhibit will run from Sept. 19 to Nov. 3.

Also at the event grounds during Kyomaf, floats based on the popular TV anime and movie series Love Live! will be on display. Three floats will be shown featuring cute deformed versions of the first, second, and third-year high school girls. These are not to be missed for all Love Livers.

In addition to the above, various other events are being planned for this year’s Kyomaf as well. Keep it here for follow-up reports including info on additional open stage performances.
