An official premium shop for the TV anime Working!! that began broadcasting in June opened in Shibuya, Tokyo on Aug. 5. The “Wagnaria Shibuya Marui Branch Store” open on the eighth floor of Shibuya Marui includes original merchandise for sale and items on display.
On sale at the shop are many original items released for the first time. These include tin badges, acrylic keychains, tumblers, and tote bags. The items feature the main characters and Wagnaria logo.
Working!!! is set at a family restaurant somewhere in Hokkaido called Wagnaria. The series began as a manga by Karino Takatsu that was serialized in Square Enix’s Young Gangan from 2005–2014. A highly popular sequel titled Working!! Re:Order began earlier this year. The first and second seasons of the TV anime were broadcast in 2010 and 2011, respectively, and the long-awaited third season began broadcasting this year, continuing the series’ popularity.
Original drink items are also for sale at the shop. There are drinks themed after seven characters: main character Sota Takanashi, Popura Taneshima, Mahiru Inami, Yachiyo Todoroki, Jun Sato, Hiroomi Soma, and Aoi Yamada. Each one comes with different toppings too, like vanilla ice cream, mandarin oranges, and honey. The price of a drink with a topping is 600 yen, and without a topping is 500 yen (both include tax). Customers also receive an original postcard with each drink purchase. The designs include themes for all seven drinks as well as an eighth design of Sota Takanashi crossdressing as Kotori-chan. Postcards are given out at random.
In the exhibit area, customers can view life-size character panels and even illustrations signed by the cast and original author, Karino Takatsu. The store will be open for a limited time until Aug. 23. Fans will likely be happy about this store being open during the broadcast of the long-awaited third season of the TV anime. With fans becoming more excited about Working!!, it seems we can expect more to come.
