TV Anime “Comet Lucifer” Broadcast Begins in October

News on a new original anime was revealed on July 26. The new TV anime Comet Lucifer will begin broadcasting this October. The anime takes place on the planet Gift. Main character Sogo Amagi lives in a town that prospers through mining, and one day after getting caught up in trouble he meets a mysterious girl.

The work is touted as an “adolescent sci-fi adventure romp” and has the theme of “boy meets girl.” It seems it will be filled with action, adventure, mecha, romance, and entertainment. This will be an original anime not themed on an existing series. We can likely look forward to the unexpected.

An elite team of staff have been assembled for the anime. The anime is being produced by 8-Bit, the same studio behind The Fruit of Grisaia, Tokyo Ravens, and Infinite Stratos. Though a studio that has brought to the world countless hits, this is their first original anime. Nevertheless, they are putting all of their fighting spirit into it.

The director is Yasuhito Kikuchi of Infinite Stratos fame, and for the first time as original planner and series composer is Yuichi Nomura of Eureka Seven fame. Creating the music is Tatsuya Kato.

The opening and ending theme artists have been announced as well. Fhana will sing the image songs and opening theme, and Ayaka Ohashi, the voice of heroine Felia will sing the ending theme song. A portion of these songs can be heard in the released promotional video.

The cast primarily consists of young, popular, talented actors. Yusuke Kobayashi, who played Arslan in The Heroic Legend of Arslan, is playing main character Sogo Amagi, Ayaka Ohashi is playing Felia, Takuma Terashi is playing Rie Takahashi, and Inori Minase is playing Ayaka Suwa.
