E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, is an annual event held in the Los Angeles Convention Center that celebrates the latest announcements in the gaming industry. Many fans agree that E3 is the biggest gaming event in the world. This year, over 52,000 people from nearly 110 countries attended the industry event.
For the first time ever, nearly 5,000 non-industry gamers, which the ESA dubbed as "prosumers," were allowed access to the E3 conference. These prosumers were given free admission badges from the show's many exhibitors prior to the show.
Consequently, E3 had a record-breaking impact on social media. According to Gamespot, this year's E3 garnered "6.3 million posts on Twitter and 7.5 million 'likes' for E3-related posts on Instagram." By the end of the 3-day long event, over 1 million videos related to E3 were uploaded to YouTube.
