An anime adaptation of the HaruChika novel series titled HaruChika: Haruta to Chika wa Seishun Suru has been announced and set to be broadcast in 2016, and an impressive production team has been assembled to transform the mystery series into a television anime.
Written by Sei Hatsuno, the HaruChika series has been popular since 2008, and has released four volumes through Kadokawa: “Taishutsu Game,” “Hatsukoi Sommelier,” “Kusou Organ,” as well as “Sennen Juliette” through Kadokawa. The newest volume of the hit series titled “Wakusei Charon” will be released this summer.
The stories revolve around members of a concert band who work through mysteries that arise in their everyday lives. Visuals that have been released from the upcoming anime series feature the two main characters Chika Homura and Haruta Kamijo.
The production team that will take on the series features Masakazu Hashimoto from Tari Tari and Soul Eater Not! as the director, and Reiko Yoshida who worked on projects including Maria Watches Over Us, Girls und Panzer, and Yowamushi Pedal as the story composer. In addition, Namaniku ATK will be in charge creating original character drafts, which Asako Nishida from Love Live! will work with as the character designer. The role of anime production will be filled by P.A. Works, known also for the production of Shirobako, Angel Beats!, along with other popular series.
In regards to the anime adaptation, Sei Hatsuno stated that he is humbled by the support of his readers and the staff members that contributed to the adaptation. Also, because the combination of mystery, high school life, and concert band elements has caused him to omit numerous details that he would have liked to have in the novels, he hopes that the anime will show the audience what he was unable to show his readers through print.
