A teaser trailer to the movie All Esper Dayo! The Movie releasing on Sept. 4 has been made available. The trailer shows the series’ familiar blend of comedy with slight ecchiness and will raise anticipation as the movie’s fall release approaches.
The trailer reveals a shocking story in which the city of Higashimikawa in Aichi Prefecture faces an unprecedented crisis. Many people including main character Yoshiro Kamogawa of Team Esper awaken to having supernatural powers, which is said to be a plot to destroy humanity. The trailer showing all sides of Team Esper who, unlike the TV drama adaptation, look serious gives the impression of a grand story. However, on the other hand, the trailer also highlights well-known comical scenes like the panty scenes with Miyuki Hirano and Sae Asami while Yoshiro grips a Tenga tightly. What fate awaits the characters in the movie?
The original work All Esper Dayo! is an adolescent sci-fi comedy by Kiminori Wakasugi that was serialized in Kodansha’s Young Magazine. It depicts unusual espers who awaken to having ridiculous superpowers. It was adapted into a TV drama in 2013 which gained popularity especially among young adults and won the prestigious TV drama award, Galaxy Award, among others.
Continuing from the TV drama, Shion Sono, a genius who has created hit works one after the next including Himizu, Why Don’t You Play in Hell?, and Tokyo Tribe, is directing the movie. Also continuing in the lead role is Shota Sometani who has been appointed to the main cast of many series including Parasyte, Strayer’s Chronicle, and Bakuman.
It has also been revealed at this time that heroine Miyuki Hirano will be played by 19-year-old Elaiza Ikeda. An enthusiastic performance by Ikeda, who won the role through auditioning and is also a charismatic model, will be a highlight.
