Kadokawa has launched ComicWalker Global, a platform that specially publishes works by overseas creators. The aim of the platform is to create a place where works born from creators at Kadokawa’s overseas locations and schools abroad and works by highly talented creators throughout the world are published.
Currently, ComicWalker Global is available in Japanese, Chinese (Traditional), and Chinese (Simplified), and a vast range of works can be enjoyed in each language. English will be supported on the service in the near future. Also, ComicWalker is introducing the first vertically scrolling manga, an easy-to-read format on smartphones and tablets. Of course, aside from the browser platform, a smartphone app is also in the works.
The beta version of the service which launched on April 27 includes an all-color manga by Chiya, a manga artist in Hong Kong hugely popular throughout Asia, titled Hoshigosha - Hoshi ga Mieru Mise which is updated every other week, and Nippon Lah, a four-panel manga about everyday life written entirely in Japanese by Singaporean manga artist Foo Swee Chin, which is updated every day.
