A Dog of Flanders donuts introduced to World Masterpiece Theater donut lineup on May 7
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the World Masterpiece Theater series, donut shop Floresta began selling World Masterpiece Theater donuts on March 26. Their too cute designs are hugely popular. Released up till now were Rascal the Raccoon on March 26 and 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother on April 16. The series has now moved on to round 3 beginning May 7. A Dog of Flanders donuts are on sale now until May 27. What kind of donuts are Nello, Alois, and Patrasche? World Masterpiece Theater broadcast many ‘70s era children’s anime including A Dog of Flanders. There are many people who likely still remember Anne of Green Gables, Princess Sarah, and Romeo no Aoi Sora.
Floresta, the donut shop holding this collaboration, is highly popular for selling donuts of cute animals. This time, they took up the challenge of characters from World Masterpiece Theater. Though the franchise is located throughout Japan, only 20 locations are selling these World Masterpiece Theater donuts.
The A Dog of Flanders donuts released on May 7 include four versions total: main character Nello, his friend Alois, and two versions of Patrasche. Nello comes in a strawberry and purple potato flavor, Alois comes in white chocolate and strawberry, and Patrasche comes in soybean flour. These are flavorful, simple donuts made from natural ingredients.
A present campaign is also being held. Through its duration, a point stamp will be given for each World Masterpiece Theater donus purchased. Those who collect six points can receive a tote bag with specially drawn artwork by illustrator Ryoji Nakajima. Nakajima creates Floresta animal illustrations, and for this tote bag he drew Rascal, Patrasche, and Amedeo.
These lovely donuts may be a waste to eat, but the flavors are too good to pass up. Quantities are limited, so these may become hard items to get your hands on.
