Anime adaption of Rokka no Yuusha to air in 2015; will six chosen heroes stop Majin?

Ishio Yamagata’s Rokka no Yuusha, published under Shueisha’s Dash X Bunko label, will be made into a TV anime series. The airdate has been revealed as beginning from summer 2015. In addition, color images of seven main characters as well as the story outline and plot synopsis have been made public. Excitement will build until the broadcast start date in three months.

Rokka no Yuusha is a fantasy adventure work that began in 2011. Six heroes are chosen by the god of destiny to prevent the awakening of Majin from the darkness. Among them is the self-proclaimed “strongest in the world,” Adlet Mayer.

However, when the six heroes gather at the arranged meeting place, they find that there are not six of them, but seven. The six heroes descend into paranoia when they realise that there is an enemy among them…

This work that blends the genres of fantasy, adventure, and mystery has enjoyed high popularity since it was first released, and sales of the first volume have already exceeded 100,000 copies. Furthermore it was also ranked at number 3 and number 8 in Takarajimasha’s 2013 and 2014 “Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!” (This Light Novel is Amazing!) rankings respectively. Naturally, fan anticipation is high.

The director will be Takeo Takahashi ( Spice and Wolf, Maoyu ) and expectations are high due to his critically-acclaimed work on fantasy series. In charge of composition and scenario is Tatsuhiko Urahata ( Haganai, Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere, Saki: The Nationals ) has also been selected for his talent. Illustrations will be by Miyagi, and Sayaka Koiso will be the chief animation director and also in charge of character design. The released color images of the characters are expected to be an indicator of the anime’s visuals. The music by Michiru Oshima is also something to take notice of, and the animation production studio will be Passione. The cast has yet to be announced, but with so many fascinating characters, further information is expected soon.
