Japan Anima(tor( Expo, which continues to upload the series of short videos it began in fall 2014, has launched another new project. Picking out two of the most popular shorts from amongst the already uploaded videos, they've begun uploading alternate versions.

The first of these is the third video, “Me!Me!Me!”, and the other the 12th short, “Evangelion: Another Impact (Confidential).” They’ve both been made into “alternate versions” which are fairly different in style to the original videos. The same materials have been used, but you could even say they are completely different pieces of work.

For “Me!Me!Me!”, Hibiki Yoshizaki was in charge of direction, planning and design. TeddyLoid, the music producer and composer whose genius has attracted attention in Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo’s design works among others, challenged the stimulating animation with his musical motif. The movie’s shocking ending with its completely naked girls became a hotly debated topic.

This time, a new music video has been made using the original anime video as its basis. Put together like a collage and given a new processing, the video known as “Me!Me!Me! Chronic feat. daoko/TeddyLoid” radiates new charm.

The other movie, “(Making of) Evangelion: Another Impact,” was born out of “Evangelion: Another Impact (Confidential).” Just as it says in the title, this “making of” video shows you from the back to the front the attention-grabbing, full CGI Evangelion video created by the Japanese 3D CGI master, Shinji Aramaki.

You can see the CGI models, of course, but also the settings documents, motion capture production and plenty of other related materials. More than anything else, while it’s a “making of” movie, it’s also attracting attention as a piece of entertainment. For fans of Evangelion, CGI and movie fans everywhere, it’s a must see.

Japan Anima(tor) Expo is a series of short videos produced under a cooperative project between Studio Khara and Dwango. It’s an omnibus animation group which allows various directors to freely create regardless of genre. A new video is released every Friday.
