The 41st Ultraman Hero Will Appear in July!

Ultraman X TV series to air from July; the 41st Ultraman Hero arrives!

This July, a new hero will join the world of Ultraman - the long-running series with over 50 years of history which is loved the world over. The new series, titled Ultraman X, will be broadcast on six TV Tokyo stations from July 14, 2015. Ultraman X will air as part of New Ultraman Retsuden every Tuesday from 18.00 to 18.30. It’s sure to become a big deal simply because it’s the new Ultraman series fans have been eagerly awaiting.

Ultraman X promises to tell the story of the 41st successive Ultraman known as Ultraman X. At the same time the broadcast dates were announced, the design was also unveiled. With silver as the underlying base color, the suit has red and gray accents which give a more slender impression than previous suits. On top of that, the suit has a shining blue X design on the chest which will leave a strong impression on all who see it. Together with his special defense team XIO, Ultraman will face giant kaiju and invaders from outer space. As it’s a completely new series, expectations are rising.

XIO is a defence force equipped with super scientific mecha formed because of the kaiju revived by the Ultra Flare from the sun enveloping Earth. Under the influence of the Ultra Flare, the Spark Dolls - doll figures lying dormant in the depths of the earth and the bottom of the seas, wake back up.

Fifteen years after the group's formation, XIO member Daichi Ozora, who has been resisting against the continuously appearing evil kaiju and invading aliens, hears a mysterious voice during a battle with the kaiju. “You and I united! If we make our hearts as one we can fight the kaiju!” Daichi, fallen into a desperate crisis because of the kaiju attacks, decides to stand up against the various threats battling Earth by becoming one with the mysterious light that is Ultraman as Ultraman X.

For the production, a group of energetic directors active in tokusatsu films and TV shows has been assembled. The main director, Kiyotaka Taguchi, has been involved with MM9 Monster Magnitude and Gehara: The Dark and Long-Haired Monster among others in addition to serving as a director on Ultraman Ginga S. Other directors include Koichi Sakamoto, Takanori Tsujimoto, Yuichi Abe and Suguru Tomita. If you’re a tokusatsu or action fan, this lineup is sure to drive you wild.

As for the role of Daichi Ozora who transforms into Ultraman X, 20-year-old Kensuke Takahashi has been appointed. He has starred in Hamatora: The Stage 2 and others, but it’s been decided he’ll play the new generation of Ultraman because of his youthful energy. Great things are expected of him in the future.

“As soon as I was old enough to understand what they were, I used to carry kaiju encyclopaedia and vinyl figures around with me. When I was in the third year of middle school I made an independent Ultraman movie by myself. Finally, finally, I’ve been allowed to serve as the main director on a new Ultraman series.

“Building a whole new world view, the drama part and the tokusatsu part together, cramming in the things I wanted to do and see, I’m producing it with the enthusiasm of making the definitive Heisei era Ultraman. I hope you enjoy it!”
