PV released for the new Lupin the Third series; Inspector Zenigata chases Lupin and the gang on the streets of Italy
A PV featuring the original story of the new Lupin the Third series—which is becoming a big topic as its broadcast in Japan is now fixed—was released. The series will start airing in Italy in May and is planned to broadcast in Japan this fall.
Lupin the Third is a manga by Monkey Punch that was serialized in Weekly Manga Action from 1967 to 1969. On the anime front, a pilot film was made in 1968, and the first season of the TV series ran between 1971 and 1972. After a brief hiatus, season 2, and a few year later season 3 aired. Then in 2012, Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine was released. These thieves have been loved for so long that if one includes the TV specials and movies, it’s not an overstatement to say there hasn’t been a year without Lupin.
The PV of Lupin the Third features familiar characters that include the protagonist Lupin III, Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa, Fujiko Mine, and Inspector Zenigata. The only thing different from usual is that it takes place in Italy. The production staff actually visited Italy to draw the world of the series in the finest details. And, following after green, red, and pink, Lupin’s jacket will be blue this time. Although this is his first time putting it on, it suits him well nevertheless.
Although the stage has moved to Italy, the scenes of Inspector Zenigata chasing Lupin and the gang around haven’t changed. There is, however, a mysterious woman who flies the skies together with Lupin. This is a new kind of Lupin aimed overseas, and the new character is something not to miss out on, either. As it has been 30 years since the last TV series featuring Lupin as the protagonist, fans have high expectations. Don’t miss out on any follow-ups.
