It has been decided that the concept car Thousand Sunny, a collaboration between popular anime One Piece and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., will be sold. Entries into a raffle for the car began being sold on Feb. 19. The car has a high price of approximately 3.25 million yen and can only be purchased by a child. This unique plan is likely to catch attention.
The Thousand Sunny car is themed after the Straw Hat Pirates’ ship Thousand Sunny from One Piece. The car itself is a Nissan Serena Highway Star S-Hybrid and it features a special paint job. The exterior is covered completely with designs of characters. The car was designed to be a special car that evokes the feeling of going on an adventure with Luffy and the gang.
This collaboration car has grown popular at Nissan showrooms and events, where many fans voiced a wanting to purchase it. Now, that wish is being granted and nine cars will be sold. You can enter the raffle to buy the car on Nissan’s official site. Only kids or their guardians can enter the raffle, and the deadline to enter is March 9 at 10:00 (JST). The price to enter is 325 yen.
Those who purchase the car will also be presented with enough gasoline to travel around the world so that, in much the same way as the Straw Hat Pirates, families can get out and have adventures all over. The amount of gasoline credit will be equivalent to the amount needed to travel approximately 40,000 kilometers (the circumference of Earth) based on a price of 130 yen per liter.
This collaboration car that displays anime characters all over it is a highly sought after collectable for fans. The recently released 7-Eleven Exclusive Mitsuoka Motors Evangelion Orochi received over 500 raffle entries, its 16 million yen price tag notwithstanding. It’s likely that this limited Thousand Sunny car will have fans of One Piece watering at the mouth too.
