‘Dramatical Murder’ Live Reading Held; Dramatic Reading Captivates Fans

On Feb. 1, a live reading of the TV anime Dramatical Murder was held at U-Port Hall. Members of the cast were onstage for the event, and a dramatic reading and discussion excited the many fans in attendance.

The performers for this live reading included seven members of the cast: Atsushi Kisaichi, the voice of Aoba, Hiroki Takahashi, the voice of Kojaku, Satoshi Hino, the voice of Noiz, Kenichiro Matsuda, the voice of Mink, Masatomo Nakazawa, the voice of Clear, Ryota Takeuchi, the voice of Ren, and Yuichi Iguchi, the voice of Sei.

The performance began with the opening animation and a dramatic reading was performed onstage, which, similarly to the event visual, featured a staircase in the center. The dramatic reading told stories of the nature of the relationships between Aoba and each of the characters, and fans listened attentively to the cast with stoic expressions on their faces. Each of the stories ended with the ending sequence and music to the TV anime, and the performances seized the hearts of fans so much that sobbing voices could be heard throughout the venue. It seemed to be a dramatic reading that the fans thoroughly enjoyed.

Afterward, the curtain closed for a brief moment and when it opened again the cast members were striking the same poses in front of the staircase onstage as their respective characters in the event’s visual. Such a sight ushered loud cheers from the audience. After each cast member conveyed a message to the fans, they moved on to a Q&A segment. This consisted of cast members answering questions from the audience chosen before the live reading. Lighthearted questions like “Where you all able to sleep last night?” flew back and forth, and there was no end to the laughter in response to their unique answers.

Dramatical Murder was first released in 2012 as a PC game. The TV anime began in July 2014 and the series has since acquired an even bigger fanbase. The currently on sale Blu-ray/DVD box set of the series includes a host of bonus content including the unaired OVA, “Data_xx_Transitory.”
