‘Psycho-Pass: The Movie’ New PV Available - A Highlight-Filled 2 Minutes and a Look at Shinya Kogami at Last

The long-awaited Psycho-Pass: The Movie finally released nationwide in Japan on Jan. 9. The movie is an entirely new entry in the series, which began as a TV anime in 2012 and returned for its second season in fall 2014. This new PV with footage not before revealed was released on the same day as the movie. The PV is 2 minutes long and is packed with highlights.

The first thing to notice is Shinya Kogami who disappeared after the first season and never showed up in the second season. The PV packs in plenty of dynamic shots of him. Action scenes, scenes seemingly deeply meaning dialogue with Akane, him being captured by the enemy - the PV gives plenty to look forward to in the movie.

The setting of the movie, Shambala Float, can also be seen in the PV. Shambala Float is the capital of SEAUn (the South East Asia Union), which is in the midst of a long-running civil war. The movie shows intense battles one after the next that unfold in the city.

Psycho-Pass is a police drama set in the near future. In its world, a numerical value is given to people’s innermost intentions and those with too high a value are deemed dormant criminals and controlled. The series gained attention for appointing Katsuyuki Motohiro, creator of the Bayside Shakedown series, and Nitroplus’ Gen Urobuchi both as chief directors.

The events of the movie transpire roughly four years after Akane Tsunemori joined the Public Safety Bureau's Criminal Investigation Division. Japan has begun exporting drones and the Sibyl System to create a utopian society. The technology is exported to Shambala Float, the capital of SEAUn which is in the midst of a long-running civil war. The system achieved peace, or so it seemed.

Meanwhile, terrorists from SEAUn invade Japan. A former Enforcer of Unit 1 of the Criminal Investigation Division then surfaces as seemingly the player leading the terrorist invasion. To find out the truth, Akane goes alone to Shambala Float to investigate.
