The music label Flying Dog, which supports Japanese anime, has begun distributing high-resolution audio on its music site, Victor Studio HD-Music. There are currently nine anime-related albums available.
High-resolution audio uses audio data that closely matches that of the master to create sound superior to CD quality. The amount of information is 3-6.5 times that of a CD, allowing listeners to enjoy a level of atmosphere that cannot be duplicated on a CD.
The titles currently available are all ones regarded as masterpieces by fans. Five titles were released first on July 2 including Maaya Sakamoto’s Single Collection Plus: Hachi Pochi, Cardcaptor Sakura Theme Song Collection, and other past hit albums. The following week, on July 9, four more titles were added to this list including the Macross Frontier soundtrack series Macorss Frontier O.S.T. 1 Nyan Furo and the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack, winner of the 13th Japan Gold Disc Award. Each of the albums have been changed into 96kHz/24bit using Victor Studio Flair’s original technique, K2HD processing. Definitely experience these masterpieces in high-resolution audio.
Past masterpieces and new records are planned to be released consecutively from Victor Studio HD-Music. Just what titles will be released from here on? Because it’s Flying Dog, a company known for putting out many masterpieces, expectations will no doubt be high.
