The broadcast of the TV anime Akame ga Kill! began earlier this month. The anime is broadcast every Sunday on Tokyo MX at 24:00. The original work authored by Takahiro and illustrated by Tetsuya Tanaka is currently serializing in Monthly Gangan Joker. The story takes place during the decay of the Empire after 1,000 years and focuses mainly on Night Raid, a heartless assassin group who lives in the shadows. Calling itself a “merciless dark fantasy,” brutal developments are surely on the horizon.
The broadcast of Episode 1, which happened during the first week of July, is gathering popularity. The anime makes use of the original work’s inherent flavor while bringing its characters to life; it’s finished off in a way that fans of the original work will understand. The anime might also open the door to new fans, so its popularity will likely widen from here on. Though there are many new works beginning this summer, fans will likely be unable to take their eyes off of the developments to come in Akame ga Kill.
The broadcast of Episode 2, “Kill the Authority,” began on Tokyo MX on July 13. It seems this episode will have huge implications on main character Tatsumi’s future. In Episode 1, “Kill the Darkness,” Tatsumi ventures to the capital to try and enlist in the army, but he can not. While in the capital, due to a string of strange occurrences, Tatsumi ends up crossing blades with the assassin group Night Raid.
Episode 2 begins with him being taken by Night Raid. However, Tatsumi is recognized for his killing ability and is invited to join the group. Before long, he begins to understand the thoughts of the other members and decides to act as a member of Night Raid to exterminate evil. Keep an eye on what will happen to Tatsumi and Night Raid as things heat up.
