Do you remember Illustration 2013? It was a huge hit when it released last year, and it even made headlines here on TOM. 2013 is an illustration collection created around the concept of being “an illustration book that archives ‘now.’” It includes works by 150 illustrators active in different media, including Pixiv and Nico Nico Douga, and genres, including anime, games, and light novels. Aside from ranking No. 1 in sales domestically in Japan as well as right here on TOM when it released, it also because tremendously popular overseas.

It is a B5 variant size (190 x 257 mm), 320 pages. The basic concept and format remains unchanged from 2013, however the lineup of work from each artist has been newly arranged. Also, the book uses Brilliant Palette, a specialized printing technique used for art books and art prints. This means that the book doesn’t just have the newest illustrations, but also uses the highest quality printing technique to present them. Of course, works by many TOM Special Creators are also included, so fans will definitely want to search through it to find their favorites.
One aspect of the series we’d like to point out is that there is profile information for each participating artist. This includes their website URL, email address, Twitter ID, a message to fans directly from the creators themselves, and more. In addition to being a reference work to the world of pop culture as well as a way for fans to connect with their favorite artists, 2014 is also a way to find out about new artists.
The scope of 2014 doesn’t end with just the book.
