From the mind of rare visionary and creator Shoji Kawamori comes the multidimensional project “The Fool.” Continuing from the stage play, the anime Nobunaga the Fool has finally been announced.
Nobunaga the Fool takes place in a chaotic time and universe that is divided between the Western Planet and the Eastern Planet. Due to an inheritance from an extremely ancient civilization, the Western Planet enters a time of war. Before long, effects of this begin to spread to the Eastern Planet. As the two planets draw nearer to complete chaos, a girl of the Western Planet, Jeanne Kaguya d'Arc, has a premonition of the “Sacred Treasures” saving the worlds. On the other side of things, a “fool” named Oda Nobunaga of the Eastern Planet desires the power to change the worlds. As if guided by the two divided planets, Nobunaga and Jeanne have a fateful encounter. Before long, the catalytic force born from the change in these planets begins to incite great changes in the universe.
The original story, series composition, and, of course, main mechanical designs are being handled by the famous Shoji Kawamori of Macross fame. Yone Kazuki, famous from the Hakuōki series, is in charge of character designs. The anime is being produced by Satelight.
A popular voice cast has been assembled for the anime that includes Mamoru Miyano as Oda Nobunaga, the heir to the small country Owari on the Eastern Planet; Takahiro Sakurai as Akechi Mitsuhide, a strategist working for the Oda family; Yūki Kaji as Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the Oda family’s retainer; Yōko Hikasa as Jeanne Kaguya d'Arc, a young girl from the village of Donremi on the Western Planet; and Tomokazu Sugita as Leonardo da Vinci, an artist and scientist from the Western Planet.
The official site for the anime has opened and the first key visual has been released. Also, an advance screening of the anime has been decided on. This will be free to attend for those who receive an invitation via lottery. Of course, greetings with Miyano and the rest of the cast, as well as a discussion with Kawamori are planned.
Nobunaga the Fool will begin airing in January 2014. Check the official site for detailed information and to apply for the advance screening.
