Limited Time! A Torchic holding a Mega Stone is being given out with Pokemon X/Y! Don’t miss this chance!

From Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, to Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, a Torchic holding a Mega Stone required for Mega Evolution called “Blazikenite” is being given out online with Pokemon X/Y.

Torchic evolves into Combusken, which evolves into Blaziken. By making Blaziken hold the Blazikenite, it can Mega Evolve into Mega Blaziken. With Torchic along for the adventure, you can evolve it into Blaziken and then Mega-Evolve it into Mega Blaziken!

Blaziken is a Pokémon known for its high attack stat. By Mega-Evolving, this attack level becomes even greater. His Fire-type move “Blaze Kick” is a strong move that not only boasts a high level of power, but also frequently hits its targets and can even leave them with burns. The item needed for Blaziken to Mega Evolve is known as “Blazikenite,” and cannot be found within the game in Pokémon X/Y. Therefore, players won’t be able to Mega Evolve their Blaziken without getting the Blazikenite as a gift. Don’t lose this chance to get Torchic and Blazikenite and achieve a Mega Evolution!

The special Torchic being given out has a hidden ability known as “Speed Boost.” A Torchic with Speed Boost is very rare, and cannot be captured through normal play. Speed Boost is an extremely powerful ability that raises a Pokémon’s speed after each turn. In an instant, the Pokémon will have incredible speed. This speed coupled with its high attack stat will definitely make Mega Blaziken very useful in battle.

Gym Leader Korrina holds the key to Mega Evolution.

Now allow us to introduce a new Gym Leader. Her name is Korrina. She works hard to achieve her goal of bringing out the strength of her Pokémon and reach ever greater heights. In addition to being a Gym Leader, she is also a roller skater. She meets the main character several times throughout his or her journey and plays a very important part.

Korrina’s gym is located in Shalour City, a seaside town with beautiful views. Within Shalour City is a building connected to Mega Evolution called Master Tower. The town’s gym leader, Korrina, also seems to know a secret about Mega Evolution.

Super Train Pokémon! Super Training is a brand new way of helping Pokémon grow!

Pokémon gain experience and levels by battling other Pokémon. However, in Pokémon X/Y, this is no longer the only way to help Pokémon grow. In this release, a new type of Pokémon training known as Super Training will be introduced.

Super Training puts Pokémon up against Pokémon-shaped balloons, with both sides trying to shoot balls into the other’s goals. It makes use of the Nintendo 3DS’ features and allows players to enjoy 3D visuals and intense action. Use the Circle Pad and Touch Panel to block the balloon’s balls and shoot balls into your opponent’s goals!

Players can always access Super Training through the bottom screen on the Nintendo 3DS when not in battle or in a special scene. Similarly, players can also select “PSS” and “Pokémon-Amie” on the bottom screen to enjoy those features.

In addition to Super Training, there is another way to easily train Pokémon. Players receive a training bag when keeping up with their Super Training. With a training bag, Pokémon in your team will be able to do Core Training and grow on their own. Players can help the Pokémon by tapping the Touch Panel. Core Training is always displayed on the Super Training screen. Pokémon can now be trained at any time, even outside of battle.

Super Training does not raise a Pokémon’s level, but rather the base stats of a Pokémon, such as HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, and Speed. Raising the base stats gives a Pokémon higher HP, Attack, and other stats than the same kind of Pokémon at the same level. In previous games, these base stats could only be raised in battle or by using certain items, but Pokemon X/Y allow players to raise these stats through Super Training. This opens the door to even more trainers to follow the path to becoming an expert Pokémon trainer.

There is a graph on the Super Training display. This is called the Effort-o-Meter. The Effort-o-Meter gives players an overview on how their Pokémon are growing. Each stat, such as HP and Attack, are explained below.

-HP: This is a Pokémon’s health. If the Pokémon is attacked and its HP reaches 0, it will no longer be able to battle.
-Attack: This stat affects how much damage a Pokémon can deal to opponents using physical moves.
-Defense: This stat affects how much damage a Pokémon takes from an opponent’s physical moves.
-Sp. Atk: This stat affects how much damage a Pokémon can deal to opponents using special moves.
-Sp. Def: This stat affects how much damage a Pokémon takes from an opponent’s special moves.
-Speed: This stat affects which Pokémon gets to act first in battle.

The inside part of the graph shows the stat levels relevant to each Pokémon species. Because this is determined by the Pokémon species, the graphs of all Pokémon within that species will look the same. The outer part of the graph shows the base stats that have been raised through Super Training. There is a limit to how much any single Pokémon can increase its base stats through training. This limit is shown through the meter on the left. Each Pokémon has stats that are easy to increase and those that are difficult to increase.

Raising each Pokémon’s stats to their limits in this way is an easy road to victory in Pokémon battles. Be sure to train your Pokémon by using the graph and keeping track of your Pokémons’ stats!

New Pokémon

- Dedenne
Dedenne is an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon with a distinctive round silhouette. By sending out signals through its antenna-shaped whiskers, it can communicate with friends who are far away. It can also plug its tail into outlets to drain electricity. Its “Cheek Pouch” ability is a new ability in Pokemon X/Y. If it eats a Berry during battle, it will not only get the usual benefits of that Berry, but will also be able to regain HP. There is also a new Electric-type move in Pokemon X/Y called “Nuzzle.” It’s a cute-looking move where the Pokémon puts an electrically charged cheek on the opponent, but it’s dangerous as well, as it both paralyzes the opponent and inflicts damage!

- Bunnelby
Bunnelby digs its burrow in the ground using its shovel-like ears. Its ears can even cut through thick roots, and it puts that strength to use in battle. With the Earth-type move “Dig,” it goes underground on the first turn, and then attacks on the second. While underground, it can avoid most attacks. If it looks like Bunnelby will be targeted during a Double Battle, “Dig” can allow it to avoid the attack.

- Skiddo
Skiddo is a Pokémon with a gentle nature and is said to have been the first Pokémon to live alongside humans. Having lived with humans for so long, it doesn’t seem to mind carrying people or loads on its back, and it can use its horns to read people’s feelings. With its Grass-type move “Leaf Blade,” it uses a leaf like a sword to attack. Both powerful and effective, this is a very useful move! There is apparently a place somewhere in the Kalos region where people can ride Skiddo. Go all over by galloping at far faster speeds than you can run and leaping over ledges!

- Gogoat
Gogoat is the evolved form of Skiddo. Both Skiddo and Gogoat have the unique characteristic of allowing people to ride on their backs.
