On July 23, the first volume of manga artist Haruko Ichikawa’s first long work titled Hōseki no Kuni, currently serialized in Kodansha’s Afternoon, went on sale. In commemoration of this, a promotional video for the anime adaptation of the work was released!
The anime is being produced by Studio Hibari. The character designer and illustrator is Aya Kanō who worked as the animation director on works such as Big Windup! and xxxHolic Kei. Seeing the scenes released in the PV showing the sense of transparency the crystal-bodied main characters have raises the anticipation for the anime. Another curious point is the quality of the fantastical battle scenes set in Ichikawa’s full throttle world.
Over 900 comments from fans on Twitter have already been posted regarding the page in the magazine on which the details of the PV were announced. Comments include, “Beautiful!” and, “I definitely want to watch this,” and, “I am seriously looking forward to this.” Stay tuned for a follow-up report!
