As the Oct. 26 release of the film Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion approaches, interest and attention surrounding the series is mounting rapidly. In celebration, Madoka Magica vending machines have been placed in front of Kotobukiya stores in Akihabara, Tokyo; Nihonbashi, Osaka; and Tenjin, Fukuoka. Each uniquely designed, the vending machines are fun for fans to enjoy while awaiting the film’s release.
Via a collaboration with Asahi Soft Drinks, the vending machines stock Mitsuya Cider in four specially designed Magica Madoka cans: Kaname Madoka, Akemi Homura, Tomoe Mami, and Sakura Kyoko & Miki Sayaka. Certainly, these vending machines can be called Madoka Magica in every way. In the hot, humid summer of Japan, these are great beverages for Madoka Magica fans to drink to cool down. Also, they make great collector’s items because of their charming art. A limited quantity will be available for 120 yen each.
In addition to the special cans, each vending machine features a different outer design. Kaname Madoka, Miki Sayaka, and Tomoe Mami adorn Akihabara’s; Sakura Kyoko and Miki Sayaka are featured on Nihonbashi’s; and the hugely popular Ultimate Madoka and Akemi Homura beautify Fukuoka’s vending machine. Each large visual of the characters make the vending machines eye-catching from afar.
In 2011, the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica was broadcast and became a huge success with the help of well-known creators that including director Akiyuki Shinbo and screenwriter Gen Urobuchi. In 2012, the anime recap films Beginnings and Eternal released. This October’s Rebellion will be a completely new work. It seems fans’ anticipation to discover what will unfold is continuing to increase.
