“Ultraman” Blu-ray Box Sets to Begin Releasing on July 10, “Ultraman Day”

The special effects program masterpiece Ultraman is finally coming to Blu-ray. “Ultraman HD Remaster 2.0,” a series of three Blu-ray box sets spanning all 39 episodes of the show, will be released starting this month. The show’s long-awaited arrival on Blu-ray is being carried out to sync up with Tsuburaya Productions’ 50th anniversary.

The first Blu-ray box set will release on July 10, which is also known as “Ultraman Day.” “Ultraman Day” is officially recognized by the Japan Anniversary Association as a day to celebrate the broadcast of the first episode of Ultraman in which Ultraman appeared to protect the world.

Following after the HD remaster of Ultra Q in 2011, Ultraman too is being resurrected in full, high-quality HD using the original negatives. On top of the visuals, the sound is also being remastered. Starting with the release of the first box set on July 10, the other two will be released on Oct. 25, 2013, and Jan. 29, 2014, respectively.
