Boys Love Anthology by Male Authors Released on Digital Bookstore Book Walker

On April 25, the digital bookstore Book Walker released Dansh: an anthology in the theme of pure love between men. This anthology is different from the previous boys love (BL) anthologies in that it was written entirely by male authors. BL depicted with a sensitivity unique to men was a concept unheard of, so it became talked about prior to its release.

The compiled works all stop at the “kiss scene+α.” They also refrain from extreme expressions. The anthology’s contents are acceptable for both male readers and those who don’t usually read BL, and it carries the potential to extend the BL readership.

The cover was drawn by Mamoru Yokota, who is famous for illustrating Rune Soldier. Eight male writers including Akihito Yoshitomi (author of Eat-Man), Ken Kurogane (author of Shoujo Sect) and Kazuo Maekawa (author of Ace Attorney, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth) participated in this anthology. These creators, who are usually active in genres totally different from BL, such as seinen manga or bishoujo, depict BL with their own unique sensitivity.

The editing, production and publishing are all done by Book Walker, and we expect to see more of such original books in the future.
