Prefectural Office Hospitality Department (Japanese name: Kencho Omotenashi Ka), a novel by Hiro Arikawa who is known for the Library Wars series, has been made into a movie that will release throughout Japan on May 11.
Prefectural Office Hospitality Department: The Movie takes place in the real-life hospitality section of the sightseeing department of the Kochi prefectural office. It depicts people working hard at their jobs of promoting sightseeing, love between two people, love between parents and children, and love for one’s home. The original novel was a big hit with the number of copies printed exceeding 200,000.
With Doryo Nishiki from the band Kanjani8 playing the main role and Maki Horikita playing the heroine, this movie is at the center of attention. A short anime that is going to be inserted has also become a recent topic of discussion. This anime is being directed by Yukiyo Teramoto, who you might be familiar with from the Doraemon series.
The anime will show a scene where the main characters are looking down at Kochi Prefecture from a paraglider. It is only 40 seconds long, but it is an impressive and vivid scene.
Director Teramoto has been participating in the Doraemon series as a director since 2005. She also directed two of the previous Doraemon movies. Earlier this year, she directed Doraemon: Nobita’s Secret Gadget Museum. As a young creator who delivers movies filled with dreams to children, she is a very promising director.
