2013 marks the 30th year since Fist of the North Star began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump. In commemoration of this milestone, on April 2, TV Tokyo and other stations began broadcasting the anime DD Fist of the North Star.
DD Fist of the North Star takes a 180 degree turn from the original work’s series tone, adopting a comedic story in which well-known characters are presented in a chibi style. The anime’s opening theme is a joint effort by singer Risa Yoshiki and musician Hyadain. The title of the song is “Shift to Jikyu to, Tsuideni Ai o Torimodose!!” The song is a cover of the first opening theme from the anime Fist of the North Star, “Ai o Torimodose!!” The song has been rearranged to match the comical world of DD Fist of the North Star.
On March 22, at a press conference for the anime, Risa performed the song for the first time. In addition to the opening song, Risa and Hyadain also worked on the ending theme titled “Hokuto no Ken Iechau Kana,” a cute song that also matches the anime.
Both of these songs will be released on CD on May 22. The price of the regular CD is 1,260 yen.
