Do you know what Graphig is? There are papercraft models with rectangular heads and triangular bodies. The design of the cute, chibi form of the characters really makes them shine. They are also easy enough for anyone to make. This is what Graphig papercraft is.
From Feb. 28 to March 12, an exhibit was held for Graphig in Nakano, Tokyo at the Nakano Broadway shopping building.
What was instantly surprising upon entering the exhibit space was the wall covered in Graphig papercraft. All over, we heard attendees’ surprised voices as they said, “This anime too? Ah, a Graphig has also been made of this character too!” To date, over 200 Graphig have been released, and each one was on display.
Rare items, such as Graphig found in the back of magazines, first edition DVDs, and other items you couldn’t see anywhere else, were on display, and attendees were thoroughly enjoying looking at all of them. Also on display was a life-size Graphig of Hatsune Miku, whose presence was overwhelming.
The exhibit had everyone feeling the vigor and momentum of Graphig, and everyone left with the same feeling: “Don’t underestimate this as simple papercraft; at 200 models, this is only the beginning!”
