The Thousand Sunny from “One Piece” Sets Sail! [1/2]

The Thousand Sunny is the pirate ship from the manga One Piece. It is a dear companion to Luffy and the gang and is their second ship, replacing the first ship, Going Merry. Now, the Thousand Sunny has crossed over from the world of the manga into the real world. In the Nagasaki prefecture, which is on the western island of Kyushu, there is a popular theme park called Huis Ten Bosch. The theme park features recreations of Dutch buildings from Holland. It is here that you can set sail on a voyage on the actual Thousand Sunny.

The harbor where the Thousand Sunny is anchored is overflowing with the adventurous spirit and romanticism of the world of One Piece. The Shabondy archipelago have been faithfully recreated and fans can meet Luffy and other pirates including Kid and Law. Ace’s ship and Mihawk’s ship can also be seen as well as a five meter tall Picifista. Fans can truly experience the world of One Piece.

Now, on to the Thousand Sunny! As soon as we boarded, we immediately felt like we were on a pirate ship. The ship is the actual size of the Thousand Sunny and perfectly portrays the ship from the loved world of One Piece. Everyone onboard was eagerly anticipating seeing Luffy and the gang, but he was nowhere to be found. Everyone seemed to be thinking the same thing: where is Luffy?
