Sword Art Online fans, the wait is almost over!
The first game for the Sword Art Online series, Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment, will be released on the PSP by NAMCO BANDAI Games on Mar. 14. The game is part RPG and part dating sim, and is set in the world of Aincrad, the massive 100-floor floating castle from the first part of the series. Players are tasked with battling through the top 25 floors of Aincrad in order to clear the game. As players traverse the world of Aincrad, they will encounter many familiar faces from the series including Asuna, Silica, Lizbeth, Yui, Sinon, and Lyfa. The game will also feature a new character named Strea. Infinity Moment is being closely overseen by series creator Reki Kawahara, who also wrote an entirely original story for the game, so fans can rest assured that the game is in good hands.
Don’t be fooled though, there is much more to Infinity Moment than just pseudo-RPG, hack and slash gameplay. The game gives players the opportunity to swoon their favorite characters thanks to the implementation of a dating system. This system is initially implemented through a partner system, which allows players the ability to fight alongside popular characters from the series. Through fighting alongside other characters, players can built up bonds between them. Once the player’s bond to the character becomes high enough, players can begin dating them. Whether it’s that fan favorite Asuna, or the mysterious newcomer Strea, this system is sure to offer fans the chance to get to know their favorite characters from the series like never before.
Infinity Moment will come in both a limited edition and a regular edition. The limited edition comes packed with Sword Art Online goodies including special package artwork by famous illustrator abec, the original soundtrack for the game, and the special booklet “Dengeki Nerve Gear”, as well as a special DVD featuring cast discussions, making-of documentaries, and more. NAMCO BANDAI Games recently announced that both versions of the game will also come with download codes for two special freebies: 10 custom PSP themes and a special swimsuit outfit for the female characters.
With the inclusion of both a fighting system and dating system, as well as an original story that is sure to shed light on many characters from the series, this game has a bit of something for every Sword Art Online fan. Mark your calendars and get ready to enter the world of Sword Art Online this March!
