Elden Ring Reveals New Gameplay Trailer and January 2022 Release!

In 2019, the description sounded like some kind of wonderful fever dream. Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator of FromSoftware’s critically acclaimed Souls Series, and George R. R. Martin, creator of the critically acclaimed Game of Thrones novel series, collaborating to produce a brand new open world Souls-like action RPG called Elden Ring. Fans lost their collective minds when they watched the debut trailer of the game that showcased a captivating mixture of mystery and dark fantasy.

But like some precious ancient tome buried underneath a thousand dusty books in a haunted library, the game and any news about it seemed to vanish. Never to be seen or heard of again. Until now.

Wrapping up Geoff Keighley’s Live Kick Off event for Summer Game Fest today, FromSoftware unveiled a world premiere gameplay trailer for Elden Ring. You can view it below.

This is a trailer gamers have been dying to see for two whole years. Just goes to show E3 2021 won’t be stealing all the glory when it comes to this week’s big gaming announcements. Sorry E3, we still love you. But this time, our buddy Geoff has got us hyped.

In the three minute long trailer, we see the game's protagonist battle some truly bizarre and imaginative enemies. One of the most memorable bosses had numerous armored limbs protruding from its massive body. We also glimpse a mysteriously cloaked girl who may or may not be the one who intercedes, "Brandish the Elden Ring... for all of us."

Besides the trailer, the game’s publisher, Bandai Namco Entertainment, has also announced a release date - January 21, 2022. That’s a mere seven months away! Saints be praised! The game will be playable on all platforms - Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Bandai Namco Entertainment still has an E3 presentation scheduled on Tuesday, June 15th. Stay tuned to Tokyo Otaku Mode to see if even more juicy details or visuals about Elden Ring are dropped at that time!
