Who Are Spring 2018's Ideal Male Characters For Male Fans?

With ideal female characters of the spring anime season having already been ranked by male and female fans, it's time to see what guys think of the top male characters! As always, the competition was stiff in Anime!Anime!'s ranking, which gathered votes from 221 fans between May 3 and 6 and ended in ties everywhere.

6. Amamiya Ren, PERSONA5 the Animation / Tada Mitsuyoshi, Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai / Ijuin Kaoru, Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai / Yukihira Souma, Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Souma / Yang Wen-li, Legend of the Galactic Heroes / Hozuki, Hozuki's Coolheadedness / Sagara Sousuke, Full Metal Panic!

In a massive seven way tie, a huge variety of heroes have stormed into third place with Persona 5’s mysterious transfer student Amamiya Ren leading the pack. He’s backed up by strong and silent aspiring photographer Tada Mitsuyoshi, who ties with fellow Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai classmate Ijuin Kaoru whose handsome face and chatty persona have obviously captured fans’ hearts. Cooking warrior Yukihira Souma also turns up in the running against Yang Wen-li, said to be “one of the greatest generals in human history", as well as King Enma’s righthand man Hozuki, and Full Metal Panic’s Sagara Sousuke.

2. Amuro Tooru, Detective Conan / Lupin, Lupin the Third Part 5 / Okabe Rintarou, Steins;Gate 0 / Midoriya Izuku, My Hero Academia

Meanwhile, smart seems to be where it's at for the four-way tie for runner up! Detective Conan’s skilled detective Amuro squares off against unbeatable gentleman thief Lupin the Third, while Steins;Gate’s eccentric scientist Okabe Rintaro must be plotting to go back in time and change the outcome of this poll to make himself the ultimate winner. My Hero Academia’s Midoriya Izuku rounds off the competition, proving there’s also room for quirky heroes in guys' hearts.

1. Nifuji Hirotaka, Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku

And the ideal guys’ guy is… Nifuji Hirotaka! The Wotakoi protagonist is completely OK with being out and proud as an obsessive video game fan and his shy pursuit of his childhood sweetheart has obviously won him a fair few fans. Top gaming skills and handsome too - no wonder he’s the guy every guy wants to be!
