Kaito Kid Steals Shonen Sunday Logo?! First Issue in 56 Years Published Without Logo

The audacious crime project Kid Steal Project is underway in which Kaito Kid, the rival character from Detective Conan, appears unexpectedly all over Japan to steal various things. It has been revealed that at long last Kaito Kid’s crimes have come to Weekly Shonen Sunday as well, in which Detective Conan is serialized. Kaito Kid has stolen the logo that is the face of Shonen Sunday from issue 16 released on March 18. It is said that the issue was reluctantly published without a logo.

The Kid Steal Project was started as a promotion for the film Detective Conan: Sunflowers of Inferno to be released on April 18. The audacious project is themed around Kaito Kid, rival to Conan Edogawa, who has taken over the official site and various media and has said that he will steal various items in daily life.

The first crime was committed on March 1 (Sun.), with his aim being the gigantic illusionary art at the newly reopened Tottori Conan Airport. The crimes then continued with four things stolen so far including the lights of the Yokohama Marine Tower. A preliminary note was then released outlining his next crime: “I’ll help myself to the most important aspect of the magazine that bears the name Sunday.” It seems this is in reference to the logo being stolen from issue 16 of Weekly Shonen Sunday.

Issue 16 of Weekly Shonen Sunday was released on March 18. In the magazine’s 56-year history, this is the first issue to be published without the normal logo. Fans will definitely want to check out for themselves this daring crime pulled off by Kaito Kid.
