About Me

Miya Koishi

Illustrator / Japan

I'm a resident of Tokyo. After graduating from college with a major in Design, I worked as a graphic designer for an advertising firm, and then as an illustrator before becoming a freelance illustrator in 2011. I mainly work in Photoshop and watercolors. My works feature cute girls drawn from a feminine perspective, with a soft, analog feel.

    Q&A

How did you get into drawing?

I've loved drawing pictures for as long as I can remember, ever since I was a child.

What are you particular about in your work?

I pay a lot of attention to color, balance and facial expressions.

How long does it take you to complete a work?

    Rough sketch: about 5 minutes
    Watercolor Illustration: about 5 hours
    Photoshop Illustration: about 3 days

When do you get ideas for your work?

When I'm walking around town and looking at people, or when I'm flipping throgh a magazine. I also like to make drawings based on the season.
