The most famous film animation studio in Japan, is with no doubt Studio Ghibli. Its fanbase is global, having adoring fans from many different countries. Every time a new work is announced, it is celebrated throughout the world.

Now, there is a new reason to celebrate: Studio Ghibli has finally announced their latest films planned to release this summer! The excitement will be doubled this summer, as two films created by masters of the art are released simultaneously. Hayao Miyazaki is a master at creating engrossing anime worlds such as those seen in the films Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away. Isao Takahata walked alongside Miyazaki for many years and is known as a famous director for films such as Grave of the Fireflies. The new releases will mark the first time in 25 years that both directors’ works are released simultaneously.

Miyazaki’s latest work is titled The Wind Rises (*Kaze Tachinu*). The film is his first new work in five years and follows the life of the designer of Japan’s Zero fighter planes. Takahata’s latest work is titled The Tale of Princess Kaguya (*Kaguya-Hime no Monogatari*). The film is based on the oldest Japanese folktale The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. This summer is going to be huge for animated films, and we can’t wait!
