Fukuyama Jun & Saito Yuka Announced for The Silver Guardian Anime!

The premiere date, key visual, and main cast for the anime adaptation of Gin no Guardian ( The Silver Guardian ) have been announced! Protagonist Riku Suigin will be voiced by Fukuyama Jun, and heroine Riku Rei will be voiced by Saito Yuka.

Gin no Guardian is based on the hugely popular Chinese web comic Yin Zhi Shoumuren, which has over 400 million views worldwide. This battle/fantasy story is set in an imaginary world located inside a game. It combines the familiar concept of online games played through digital devices (with rare paid-for items) with a surreal world in which players are transported inside a game, where a battle unfolds before them. The anime adaptation is directed by Okura Masahiko ( Yukikaze - Anime Legends Complete Collection ), and Kimura Hidefumi ( Kiddy Grade ) is in charge of series composition. Tsubata Yoshiaki ( Fist of the Blue Sky ) is on board as character designer and chief animation supervisor.

The series' protagonist, Riku Suigin, is a highly observant and perceptive high school student who happens to be a master of gaming. Voice actor Fukuyama Jun commented, "A wanderer without any family, Suigin is a free-to-play player. When he meets Rei inside the game, his destiny is transformed!" Fukuyama enthusiastically added, "Except for being good at games, Suigin is just a regular student with a part-time job. I'll do my very best to make my performance of Suigin's fate fun for viewers to watch! I hope you enjoy it!!!"

The series' heroine Riku Rei attends the same school as Suigin, and she's beautiful and skilled in both pen and sword. Voice actor Saito Yuka laughed as she said, "It's a lot of pressure to provide the voice for such a perfect superwoman!" adding, "This series has a lot of fascinating characters, so I hope everyone enjoys it!"

The Gin no Guardian anime series begins airing on April 1, 2017 on Tokyo MX.
