Detective Conan: Kara Kurenai no Love Letter ( Detective Conan: Crimson Love Letter ), the 21st entry in the Detective Conan film series, will be opening nationwide on Apr. 15. A poster visual featuring the main characters was released for the film, also hinting at a love story.
The Detective Conan: Kara Kurenai no Love Letter poster has a background of red, in keeping with the title, and Edogawa Conan and Haibara Ai each appear with sharp expressions. It also features a sad-looking Kudo Shinichi and Mori Ran with tears in her eyes, as well as Toyama Kazuha clad in a red kimono with a wounded Hattori Heiji protecting her. Finally, the three members of the Junior Detective League appear in hakama.
High school Hyakunin Isshu champion Ooka Momiji, who declares herself to be Heiji’s fiance, is also depicted with a bold smile. It'll be exciting to see what kind of role Kazuha’s romantic rival has!
It was announced that this new movie will follow the high school detectives of the east and west, Conan (Shinichi) and Heiji, as well as a love story that draws in their loved ones, Ran and Kazuha.
The poster features a tagline reading, “A sorrowful poem tearing apart their fates - A chained love mystery dyed crimson.” It seems that this “chained” mystery will feature a mixture of obstacles arising from Hyakunin Isshu, and a fleeting love.
This film begins with an explosion at the Osaka broadcasting station. With no clear motive or declaration from the culprit, Conan and Heiji feel uneasy. The self-declared fiance of Heiji, Ooka Momiji then appears before them.
After the success of 2016’s Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare, which brought in 6.31 billion yen, all eyes are on this new film!

Story
There’s been an explosion at the symbol of Osaka, Nichiuri TV!
Inside, an interview is being recorded about the Satsuki Cup (held by the Satsuki Committee, who drives Japan’s Hyakunin Isshu associations) and everyone panics in the explosion!
The great detective of the west, Hattori Heiji, and his childhood friend Toyama Kazuha are left behind as the building collapses, but the two manage to make a narrow escape after being rescued by Conan. This mysterious incident is just like an act of terrorism, but the criminal releases no motive or declaration, leaving Conan and Heiji feeling especially unsettled. Amidst this turmoil, Conan and his friends meet the insistent self-declared fiance of Heiji named Ooka Momiji.
Momiji, who claims that she is the person Heiji is fated to marry after his proposal to her as a child, is the high school champion of Hyakunin Isshu, also called the future queen. Meanwhile, the winner of the Satsuki Cup is murdered at a home in Arashiyama, Kyoto. A recording of the scene of the crime reveals Momiji. And in the background, a certain “poem” continues...
