Tamagotchi is about to reach adulthood in Japanese terms when it turns 20 on Nov. 23, so Bandai is set to mark the occasion with the first Tamagotchi movie in 10 years, Eiga Tamagotchi: Himitsu no Otodoke Dai Sakusen, which will be released during Golden Week 2017.
Special 20th anniversary Tamagotchi will also be available. Favourite characters from the original era are set to join the Tamagotchi m!x collection in a new special edition, Tamagotchi m!x 20th Anniversary m!x Ver. (two different colors, varying prices), which will be released on the day of the 20th anniversary, Nov. 23.
Also as part of the memorial year, there will be special collaboration with the Real Escape Game studio SCRAP!
Short Film Screening Information
Almost a decade after 2008’s Eiga! Tamagotchi: Uchuu Ichi Happy na Monogatari!?, Tamagotchi is back on the big screen with a 20th anniversary celebratory short film. There’s bound to be so much nostalgia parents and kids alike can enjoy the celebrations together.

The Tamagotchi m!x 20th Anniversary m!x Ver. will be available in two different colors from Nov. 23 as a special edition of the Tamagotchi m!x series launched in July 2016. The Tamagotchi m!x 20th Anniversary m!x ver. is a special version of the Tamagotchi m!x series which allows players to raise successive generations of Tamagotchi who inherit their parents’ genes. The anniversary version adds some of the classic Tamagotchi characters from previous generations to the Tamagotchi m!x series so parents who have fond memories of raising Tamagotchi in the ‘90s can enjoy playing alongside their kids 20 years later.

Tamagotchi x SCRAP Collaboration Puzzle Game
Tamagotchi is set to collaborate with Real Escape Game studio SCRAP! The events are scheduled to begin from Nov. 23 with round 2 in January and round 3 in April.
Solve the puzzle posted on the website and upload your answer and you’ll receive icons and decorations you can use in email or messages. Players who solve each of the posted puzzles will be entered into a drawing to win an invitation to a special 20th anniversary event. There are different difficulty levels aimed at kids and adults so the whole family can take part!
The online puzzle campaign will also be supported by physical stores who will put up puzzle posters, and when you submit your solution to the store from Nov. 23 onwards you could win an “Asoberu ♪ O! TamaGO Calendar.”
In store posters will be displayed from Nov. 5.
