Digimon tri. 3rd Film Surpasses 550 Million Yen at Box Office and Takes 1st Place in Mini Theater Rankings

The 3-week limited release of Digimon Adventure tri. 3: Kokuhaku began on Sept. 24. Despite only being shown at 11 theaters nationwide, more than 30 thousand people have gone to see it. It has earned over 550 million yen in box office takings and took 1st place in mini theater rankings.

Digimon Adventure tri. 3: Kokuhaku started off well, frequently selling out with long lines for merchandise and pamphlets at theaters. 33,765 people went to see it in a 4 day period (thus the 550 thousand yen), and like the 1st and 2nd films, it took 1st in mini theater rankings.
The 1st film, Saikai, was released in Nov. 2015 and earned 230 million yen, and the 2nd film, Ketsui, was released in Mar. 2016 and earned 160 million yen. Who knows just how far Kokuhaku will go! The 4th film, Soushitsu, will be released on 2/25/2017.

Kokuhaku will also have a wide variety of products on sale. The 1st week featured an illustration of the band KOD signed by Ishida Yamato by character designer Uki Yatsuya (2 kinds). The 2nd week will have 2 colored illustrations by animation character designer SHino Masanori and animation director Itou Kouji, and the 3rd week will have special KOD stickers.
In addition to the theater Shinjuku Wald 9, this movie is shown at 11 theaters from Sapporo in the north to Hakata in the south. Each of these theaters will sell limited edition blu-rays available only at the theaters, and regular edition blu-rays and DVDs will go on sale Nov. 2.
